Project-Based Learning activity: "Usher House for Sale" Brochure with templates for Paper, Canva, and Google Slides Lesson Plan: “The Fall of the House of Usher”
Day 1: Meet Edgar Allan Poe with this FREE TED video. Review figurative language vocabulary and jot down notes in the margins. Play review games on Blooket, Quizlet, and Gimkit (all FREE to join).
Day 2 & 3: Start reading and annotating "The Fall of the House of Usher" with the audio version. Use the annotations Google Doc (choose between Version A: the original text, or Version B: abridged/easier version). Listen to a FREE reading of "The Fall of the House of Usher" (included).
Day 3: Wrap up reading and annotating "The Raven" with the audio. Take a figurative language quiz and join the discussion.
Day 4: Wrap up reading and annotating "The Fall of the House of Usher." Kick off the "Usher House for Sale" Brochure activity using the provided sample and templates.
Day 5: Get creative! Design your own brochure to "sell" the Usher house. Complete brochure pages: Summary, Property History, and Disclaimer, using evidence and quotes from the story.
